The American Trauma Society presented an Injury Webinar on April 27, 2021 at 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM ET - "Battling an Epidemic in the Midst of a Pandemic: The Impact of the COVID Pandemic on Community Violence."
Join the ATS and Rachelle HUnley, MPP to learn more about how the COVID pandemic has exemplified structural and systemic inequalities in marginalized communities across the country, exacerbating health disparities and resulting in an uptick of violence over the last year. Subsequently, healthcare systems have seen an increase in service needs. This presentation will briefly review how health disparities influence violence, explore the implications of COVID on intentional injuries, and how VCU Health’s Bridging the Gap program has navigated assisting youths and their families in the midst of a public health crisis.
