Description
With continued focus being placed on the quality of the trauma registry data and its use in Trauma Programs, the autopsy is an often overlooked important data source. It is vital for trauma registrars to understand what the role of the autopsy plays in gathering and how it can be used in the trauma performance improvement programs. Trauma Registry Professionals should have a strong understanding of the differences in the forensic versus the medical terms when reading a report. In addition, the Trauma Registry Professional should have astute investigative skills and learn to dig deeper within the report to discovers all injuries identified and then compare them to their current trauma registry. The autopsy report and comparison can be used in validating the clinical skills of your providers as well as verifying that interventions were appropriate for the injuries identified.
