Description
On August 10, 2017, the American Trauma Society’s – Trauma Registry and Data Council (TRDC) hosted a Trauma Registrar Educational Webinar, "An Overview of the International Classifications of Diseases, Tenth Revision (ICD-10) for Trauma Registrars." This webinar covers a general overview of the Clinical Modification (CM) and Procedural Coding System (PCS) of ICD-10. This course is perfect for a new trauma registrar to provide them with the foundation needed for understanding both the ICD-10-CM an ICD-10-PCS coding systems. ICD-10-CM is the system used by trauma registrars to classify and code diagnoses, symptoms, and external causes on trauma patients. ICD-10-PCS is the system which replaced the ICD-9 volume 3 for reporting inpatient procedures and used by trauma registrars to code procedures performed on the trauma patient during hospitalization. The webinar is presented by Rudy Flores, BSPH, CSTR, RHIT, HCA South Atlantic Division Manager of Trauma Registry and AHIMA Approved ICD-10-CM/PCS trainer and Garrett Hall, BSN, RN, CSTR, Ben Taub Hospital’s Ginni and Richard Mithoff Level I Trauma Center, Trauma Registry Manager. The ICD-10 PCS 2017 Reference Addenda to the Control & Creation Definitions can be found here. Information on updated ICD-10 PCS definitions for 2018 can be found here. This webinar qualifies for 1 Hour of CSTR Recertification CEU's (Category III - Coding and Scoring Concepts). To qualify for credit, you must complete the survey below.
