Description
On September 19, 2018, the American Trauma Society hosted an Educational Webinar, "Post-Resuscitation Complications in the Trauma Patient." Traumatically injured patients are at risk for many complications after the initial resuscitation phase. Just as predictability in the progression of a disease process exists, we can anticipate and prevent potential complications resulting from the pathophysiologic response based on the mechanism of injury and applied interventions. This discussion will review a systematic approach to potential complications of the trauma patient in the post resuscitation phase of recovery. It is presented by Mike Mixson, BSN, RN, Director, Trauma Services at Medical City McKinney. Mr. Mixson has been with Medical City McKinney for 10 years in a variety of positions including staff nurse, Hospitalist Coordinator and Trauma Services Manager. He has championed Initiatives for increasing EMS, trauma, and nursing education as a TNCC and PHTLS instructor as well as faculty for the American Trauma Society. Mike was recognized and awarded the Frist Humanitarian Award in 2011 (the highest anthropological award in HCA) for contributing to the welfare of others by volunteering in the community and participating in multiple mission trips to Africa. In 2017, he was named as one of DFW’s Great 100 Nurses. Mike earned his bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Western Governor’s University and is currently completing his Master’s in Nursing Leadership and Administration. This webinar qualifies for 1 Hour of CSTR Recertification CEU's. To qualify for credit, you must complete the survey below.
