Description
On May 25th, 2016, the American Trauma Society presented an Injury Prevention Educational Webinar, "Safer Seniors" - Teaching Older Adults Fall Risk in Your Community. Every 13 seconds in the United States an older person is treated in an emergency room because of a fall. In 2014, 2.4 million Americans over the age of 65 sought care in the ER after a fall related injury. The cost to healthcare was 64 billion dollars according to the CDC. This webinar will help Injury Prevention Coordinators, Trauma Program Coordinators, and Registrars learn ways to evaluate and develop an elderly falls prevention strategy. It will help identify possible community partners and look for existing resources in their own community. Raising awareness and promoting your own program is very important for success and building a sustainability plan is vital for long term goal setting. The webinar covers how to evaluate your own data to identify the needs in your community, evaluate Community resources available, develop partnerships and look for unique relationships, select the best fit for your goals, evidence based fall prevention, how to raise awareness about your efforts, evaluate your program for effectiveness, promoting your programs, and how to build a strong sustainability plan. This webinar qualifies for 1 Hour of CSTR CEUs (Category IV - Registry Issues). To qualify for credit, you must complete the survey below.
